DEATH

"I can't wait!"

May 4 -- Read 2 Corinthians 5:1-10

Death is not an unknown to a Christian. We are promised resurrected bodies that will be perfect and without disease. We are also promised eternity with our heavenly Father in a place that defies description. It will be so magnificent, we can't even imagine what it will be like because we don't have anything here on earth to compare it with. Death is a known and something the Christian looks forward to when his usefulness is completed here.

  • As life's shadows lengthen, thoughts of God should deepen. Daily Bread

  • Don't drive your stakes too deep; you are moving in the morning. Daily Bread
  • Death was Patrick Henry's second choice.

  • When you came into this world, you cried and the whole world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die, the whole world will cry and you will rejoice. Indian proverb

  • For we know that if the earthy tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-2

  • There is a story of a florist shop that received an order for flowers along with a card to be sent to a funeral home and to a new bank to offer congratulations on their new opening. Inadvertently, the cards and flowers were mixed up- the bank received the card that said "with deepest sympathy" and the funeral home received on that said "congratulations on your new location." How true.

  • For me to live is Christ and to die is gain, but if I am going to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me. And I don't know which to choose, having the desire to depart and be with God for that is very much better.
    PHILIPPIANS 1:21
