PRAYER

"I'll be praying for you"

March 3 -- Read Exodus 17:8-16

I know that one of the best things that we can do for anybody is to pray for them. God listens to intercessory prayer. Many churches today have a day set aside to pray for others. Write someone's name down that you want to pray for. Pray specifically for them. The Bible is full of stories of intercessory prayer. It works today also. Try it. They will like it.

  • Talk to God about people before you talk to people about God.

  • You won't get an answer at God's door if you are not knocking. Daily Bread

  • The greatest thing that anyone can do for God and another human being is pray. It is not the only thing, but it is the chief thing. The great people of the earth today are the people who pray. I do not mean those who talk about prayer; nor those who say they believe in prayer; nor those who explain prayer; but I mean those who actually take the time to pray. S.D. Gordon

  • And My people who are called by My name, humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 CHRONICLES 7:14

  • To those disciples who are willing to live their lives wholly for God, I recommend praying the Lord's prayer three times a day- in morning, at noon, and in the evening. The recommendation may sound too simplistic for a generation working so hard at prayer, groping in the dark for mystic edges. We have never given up entirely our efforts to improve on the way Jesus told us to pray. We have made prayer fancier, longer, and sometimes more dramatic, but we have never made it as deep as the Lord's prayer.

Questions...

1. How would you ask God, in your own words, to help someone you are praying for? (That's the answer: just ask God in your own words. He knows your heart)
